National Grid has announced a scheduled power outage on Saturday, January 6, that will impact approximately 7,300 customers in parts of Monroe, Ontario, and Livingston counties. The affected areas include Henrietta, Mendon, Rush, Honeoye Falls, Bloomfield, West Bloomfield, Avon, Caledonia, Lima, and Livonia.

The Rochester Fire Department says an overheated transformer caused the outage. The fire alarm went off around 12:45 a.m. at the hospital’s mechanical room in the basement.Essential upgrades to National Grid's system will leave over 7,000 customers in the Rochester area without power Saturday. The company will be replacing two aging structures that support a transmission line on Jan. 6, National Grid said in a press release last week.
